Monday, December 26-Thursday, December 29

Monday we went to Lake Mayer park.  It has a 1.5 mile walking/biking/running track and it was pretty nice.  We just walked lol http://parks.chathamcounty.org/Parks/CommunityParks/LakeMayer.aspx

We also went to Oatland Island ( http://internet.savannah.chatham.k12.ga.us/schools/oat/default.aspx ) It was pretty interesting.  I think the wolves were the best part!

We visited Target and Walmart so that Matt could use part of his giftcards....We stopped into  Brighter Days Natural Foods on Bull Street. They have powdered peanut butter that has very very little fat.  I was going to take a video of this but I forgot.  You add 2T of the powdered peanut butter and 1T of water and mix.  It tasted really good. It was smooth and creamy! http://www6.netrition.com/bell_plantation_pb2.html   I'll probably get more when I get home.  It would be a good thing to keep at work.
We have also been working on wedding plans and getting ideas together.  :)

12/24-12/27

Matt and I went to Florida on the 23rd.  We got there too late to camp, but we were able to snag a cheap hotel room! yay!
We went and had breakfast at a real Mickey D's...there is a difference between McDonald's and Mickey D's.....This one has a whole different menu--a gourmet menu.  For example, we had an eggs benedict panini for breakfast.  They have pasta, pizza, ice cream, ice cream sundaes, and different cakes too! It had a game room upstairs that was like Chick E Cheese too!  There was also a bowling alley!

We went to you pick citrus and brought back pomelos, tangerines, oranges, etc.

We went to Big Tree Park to see the.........big trees!!

We went to Blue Spring park to see the manatees.

We went to Juniper Springs to see....the springs... :)

We also got to eat at Pollo Tropical while we were there!

On Christmas day, I made dinner (didn't take pictures of it! BOO! :(  )  We had turkey, green beans, scalloped potatoes, rolls, cherry pie and ice cream!  Then we went to Tybee to the beach!  Yay!
Matt was off  on Monday so we went to an organic store called Brighter Day. We also went to Lake Mayer Park, Oatland Island Wildlife center (http://internet.savannah.chatham.k12.ga.us/schools/oat/default.aspx),  Lovin' Spoons (http://www.lovinspoons.com/  ....It's a lot like Menchies!), a beverage center, and Wal-Mart!

Wedding colors?

Also, the traffic in Orlando was worse than usual, and this picture does not do it justice.

Thursday, December 22

Wednesday, December 21

It's finally winter.  It was about 72 again today! I could get used to this weather.
Matt's parents made it down safely with another load of his stuff.  I think It's all down here now.  Didn't do too much today.  We unpacked some boxes and put some things away tonight.  Discovered that there IS a Bed Bath and Beyond here, and that is it closed on Sunday!

Forsyth park.....

Tuesday, December 20

On Tuesday it was pretty sunny and about 65 degrees.  We went back to River Street to visit some shops that had been closed on Monday.  Some of them were still closed so we will be visiting them on the Monday after Christmas or New Year's Eve.  We did go to http://www.thepeanutshop.com/  and it was pretty yummy.  They had samples of the nuts and I have some to bring home!   We also went to Parker's Market Urban Gourmet- aka a gas station with class. http://www.yelp.com/biz/parkers-market-urban-gourmet-savannah
It has some of the regular gas station foods, but it also has some foods that you would find in West Point Market. .  Here's a video: http://youtu.be/b2A5yZaqkAo

We also went for a walk in Forsyth Park.  It was kind of dark, so I didn't get any pictures.  We saw an owl while we were there.  http://www.savannahga.gov/cityweb/p&tweb.nsf/0/1f4da52f3ef4d10685256c5a004a73c9?OpenDocument

We also drove downtown and saw the Christmas lights.

Sticker on a sign near River Street

Monday, December 19

First, here are some pictures from Sunday:

On Monday, Matt came home for lunch.  We had Chinese carry out.  It was pretty yummy.  After he was done with work we tried a Romanian recipe that turned out pretty well.  We went downtown to River Street and walked around a bit. Some of the shops we wanted to visit were closed, so we will have to make it back there again.  We also went to a state store, and then to another grocery store to buy food for Christmas dinner and a few other items we needed for this week! We found a winery that we might visit soon! (http://butterduckswinery.com/)

Savannah phone pics

My new camera, Wormslow, Lake Mayer Park

Sunday, December 18

My day started at 3:00 AM!  The time seemed to pass so slowly as I waited for my flights to begin and then to end, but I finally made it to Savannah and had my luggage by 10:15 AM!  My flight wasn't even supposed to get in until 10:29!
Matt made it to the airport to pick me up in record time.  We live less than a 15 minute drive from the airport!
We tried out a restaurant that he hadn't been to before for lunch.  Carey Hilliard's ( http://careyhilliards.com/ ) -- They have barbecue and seafood.  The barbecue was great, and I didn't try the seafood.  Maybe one day?
We took my stuff back to the apartment and Matt gave me my Christmas present :a Nikon D3000!  Still learning how to use it!
After that we went to Wormsloe Plantations (http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/geo-flor/6.htm).. The oak lane is really pretty!  (I need to upload some pics--maybe this afternoon...)
We also went to Skidaway Island, Lake Mayer Park,  Wing Zone (http://www.wingzone.com/index.html) , Menchie's (MMmmmm), and Food Lion. We also found a store that is a bit like West Point Market!
We also found a really awesome Indian grocery store! We found a few things there!  It is behind a Sushi place!  Yummy!
The Food Lion symbol kind of reminds me of HP- Gryffindor! lol
